Packing is literally the worst.

ambedu:

Ugh. Moving in four days.

Having just done that last week, I feel your pain! It’s even worse when you move to a smaller place.

Feeling lost

Students start at school in less than two weeks.

I feel like I should be doing ALL THE THINGS to prepare myself.

I don’t have access to the new online grading system, IEPs for my students, know who my co-teachers are or anything.

Literally, all I can do is attend my content training this week. It’s necessary, but I feel like I’m not doing enough.

My schedule isn’t finalized. I don’t even know if I’ll have an office to work in.

I just want to feel more secure.

The woes of a first year teacher. It will get better, a little, right?

ADD medication griping

We have this issue with my husband’s Xanax and Abilify/Abilify replacement.

He’ll often go off his meds for three days waiting for the new script.

His anxiety/ADD riddled brain doesn’t help him either.

Positively Persistent Teach (on summer break): Tumblr Teachers Classroom Wishlists

pptinprek:

Hello Lovely Tumblrs,

On behalf of the teachers and the #education community, I am asking that you take a little time to look at the classroom wishlists below and consider purchasing an item for a teacher and his/her students. This list includes only teachers that have completed their…

And now that I’ve fixed mine so that you can actually send me stuff, I am reblogging again.

Here are the wishlists of some great Tumblr teachers. Help us out this year! :)

12 oh 12, we’re waitinggg….

I’m excited for the announcement of 12, but have to hold off. My husband is at work. I want us to find out together :)

Plus, he’s an even bigger Whovian than I am.

My first week of training finished last week.

I guess I’m officially a teacher.

Highlights:
-No air conditioning in Florida and getting sent home early
-Waiting 30 minutes to back out of my parking space
-800 teachers plus teachers from other trainings driving to a single school.
-A daily rehashing of my college courses
-Meeting fellow new teachers from my school
-Trying to apply the already mostly useless content to a co-teach situation
-Free food

I attend four days of content training next week for Language Arts.

Pre-planning is the week after.
Students start August 20.
I can’t believe someone is trusting me to teach kids.

I need to work on my planner but I can’t do that until I know my schedule.
We’re playing the ESE waiting game now.

Miss G. in High School: I'm in a conundrum.

astoldbymissg:

The district I got a job with initially offered me a middle school position, which is what I wanted, but has now come back to say they want me for high school. The high school is in a better, safer area of town than the middle school, but I have less than a weeks worth of experience in a high…

I don’t think the 2 weeks experience matters. If the administration thinks you’ll be successful, I think you should try.

Hey, #education, any first year teacher must-reads?

math-girl:

Looking for a few more teaching/education books to fill up what remains of my summer.

I just finished 32 Third Graders and One Class Bunny by Phillip Done and it helped inspire me and remind me why I love being a teacher.
